Day one of Riptide has come to a close in Sandusky, Ohio and the stakes are high! There’s a lot to see. Here are a few things you can expect to catch at Riptide 2021:

As stated in a previous article, tourneys for four different games are happening this weekend: Melee, Ultimate, Splatoon 2, and Rivals of Aether. Todays matches consisted mainly of exhibition matches as well as doubles for both Ultimate and Melee. With players like Tweek, MkLeo, Hungrybox, Marss and many others competing this weekend.

Alongside the tourneys happening, there are also a number of vendors offering goods such as plushes, posters, and even custom buttons for controllers.

Competitors and spectators alike are beyond excited to finally be back at an in-person event. There are over 3,000 people competing this weekend with even more than that here to watch it all go down.

Pro smash player Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey had this to say regarding being back for an event after a seemingly dry spell for all competitive communities:

“It’s great to be back, you never know what’s gonna happen with everything going on, so it’s great that this was able to happen! Everyone seems to be having a good time.”
